• Main attractions near the venue

Beyazıt Square (officially named Freedom Square) the spacious plaza in front of Istanbul University’s main gate, and next to the Grand Bazaar and the Old Book Bazaar (Sahaflar Çarşısı). The walled Istanbul University campus was built as the Ottoman Ministry of War, which accounts for its martial, fortress-like aspect. The Mosque of Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent (Süleymaniye Camii), Istanbul‘s largest, is just behind the university enclosure. The area just east of the square is known as Çarşıkapı (Door to the Market) because of a main entrance to the Grand Bazaar. At Çarşıkapı you can catch the Bağcılar-Kabataş tram eastward for Sultanahmet (Blue Mosque), Ayasofya (Aghia Sofia), Sirkeci Station and Eminönü (Egyptian [Spice] Market, Galata Bridge, Golden Horn).

Turkish Republic citizens can benefit from wireless internet service at the points where they see the “IU_Guest” internet signal (in the Conference and Meeting halls of our University Beyazıt Campus) without needing to contact any unit. By following the steps in the guide below, they can easily connect to the internet in the Congress Cultural Center, Prof. Dr. Cemil BİLSEL Conference Hall, Library and Documentation Department and Rectorate Central Building Meeting Halls.

• Catering during TAOM 2024

Morning and afternoon tea and coffee breaks will be served in the Pavilion area of the SBF Building.

Lunch (hot and cold savory food) will be served in the Pavilion area on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

•  Other Dining Options:

The University campus has Profesörler Evi Restaurant, one fast food take away desk, two outdoor canteens, one SBF building canteen, and various food and drink vending machines. Additionally, several local dining options are available just a 5-minute walk from the campus, catering to every local taste.

• Waste and Recycling on Campus

Bins are available in all buildings across campus, clearly labeled and color-coded. Please use them to keep our campus clean and tidy.

• Welfare/Respite areas

We have two terraces available in our building to have fresh air and enjoy the scenery. One is across Suleymaniye Mosque, Marmara Sea and Sarayburnu, the other is good to make the most of Beyazit Fire Tower. These views can make your TAOM2024 experience more rewarding and enjoyable.
